Meet James Vantine!

James is 18 years old and the owner of Vantine Farms in Goodrich, MI. Being so young in such a hard industry has been challenging to say the least, but James' hard work, adaptability, and sustainability has kept his agriculture business alive.Â

James certification as an Organic farmer sets him apart from other farmers in the area. Organic farming builds soil structure. With the application of manure and cover crops, it helps restore the soil structure from generations of conventional farming. Vantine Farms currently farms corn, soybeans, wheat and hay.Â

James' future plans are to expand his organic operation, cultivate relationships with other growers and landowners to provide sustainable and a bright future for our land and agricultural community.Â

James has been farming the land at Thickle Farms for four years. His knowledge, dedication, and commitment to farming is impressive for being such a young man.
